What is a digital twin

A digital twin is a virtual, interactive replica of a physical space. In the fair world, the digital twin of a hall is a navigable 3D model that faithfully replicates every square metre: halls, stands, corridors, food-court and service areas.

The difference from a simple 3D reconstruction is fidelity and liveability: the model is not a static image but a space you can move through, modify and read data from. It is the bridge between the project and the visitor.

Why fairs need it

Halls are complex spaces, with hundreds of exhibitors, people flows and infrastructure. The digital twin helps organisers on three fronts:

  • Planning: position the stands, test routes and assess the impact of layouts before the real setup.
  • Sales: show exhibitors the space they are buying, visually and persuasively.
  • Real-time management: update layouts and signage during the event, shared with whoever needs them.
The future of the fair is no longer seen on a 2D floor plan: it is lived inside a shared 3D model.

Concrete benefits

A fair-grade digital twin reduces errors, speeds up sales and improves the experience:

  • Lower setup costs thanks to optimised layouts.
  • Fewer communication errors between organisers, exhibitors and fitters.
  • Faster exhibition-space sales with higher margins.
  • An experience to show sponsors and investors.

An investment that pays off

The cost of a digital twin pays back quickly: selling even one extra stand or avoiding a single layout error often covers the investment. And it is an asset that stays, updatable fair after fair.
